Re: th350 or 400 conversion
Off the strip driveability is fine. It's all personal opinion though. My car is a daily driver. Only thing I dont do is take it on the expressway. To answer your other question. No you cant get a transbrake without having a reverse manual valvebody.
Mobius, Yes it is an easy conversion. It can be done in a weekend no problem as long as you have together everything you need. As far as I know there arent any aftermarket flexplates available for them yet. Give me a call when you want to get together to check out my car.

Re: th350 or 400 conversion
4mulaJoe: Sorry for the delayed response. I know for a fact that some of the DTC's are misaligned in earlier versions of LS1Edit. I don't know if it's been fixed or not. I had the same issue for a brief time. To get rid of the P1860, you need to disable P1811. I'm not sure about the P1810, but it should follow the same sequence, i.e. the same number out of sequence as the P1860/P1811 DTC's are.
I still have an A4 program in my PCM, and have zero DTC's. I think all of the P18xx codes are tranny related, so you may want to try removing them all to see if that helps.

Re: th350 or 400 conversion
I went back and looked at my current file. I already have all if the P18xx codes turned off. I think it was you that recommend3ed I try that a while back when i first had this problem. I'm using version 1.1 from 8/10/02. I think that is current. I've pretty much given up it. LS1 Edit is not what it is advertised to be. The user interface sucks on top of that.

Re: th350 or 400 conversion
My Yank TH400/ TH400 verter fit right up to my 98 A4's stock flexplate.
I have the 3.05 gear. Cause i didnt want to give up any of the 4L60E's bad *** launch.
Couple that with the new Trans Brake... and I hope to cut some better 60's.
The TH400 is heavier..but cheaper and stronger than the TH350 of comparable price.
I am using a Lokar dipstick tube. (pretty trick)
Good luck with your install.

Re: th350 or 400 conversion
I say a built th350 and use all the upgraded parts out of a th400 and have the bad *** 1st and still have a nice feeling that your wieght has gotten lighter going from your A4 to the th350...I have about $2000+ in my th350 and its great with all the goodies!!!
Depends how well you build the 350 vs 400---IMO you can build the 350 just as well as the 400 and save weight doing it..Talked to alot of tranny builders from different swap meets and they will tell you the same.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
