Default Trans slipping and surging?

I recently bought a 2000 trans am w/ a failing trans. It surges from 3 to 4 on the freeway and it won't shift into 3 at wot. I have to let off the gas for it to shift into 3rd. The TCI 3000 stall still seems to work fine. 1. Is it time for a rebuild? 2. Can I re-use my TCI converter? 3. Any good tran shops in the Austin, Tx area.

Any help is appreciated.

1. sounds like it
2. depending on how much sediment and parts are in the pan...to be safe i would at least have it opened and cleaned
3. contact performabuilt

Yes I would think its dying . on the converter I would at least have it freshened up , Surging could be a sign of a bad converter clutch
