M6 to A4 conversion?????
In terms of the computer and wiring harness, do you have to remove the complete wiring harness that wraps around the front of the car etc.?!? Will all the plug ins in the dash work okay with the new A4's computer harness?! Excuse me for my ignorance, but my friend is doing this and didn't want to do any more than necessary in terms of removal.... Also, will the A4 pedal assembly bolt right up to the old M6 assembly?
ttt - what he is asking is does the wiring harness after the firewall going into the dash the same in both the M6 cars and the A4 cars? i am in the middle and have the wiring harness from the pcm to the firewall. can i just swap with an autos and expect everything to work fine or will i have to pull the dash and pull the entire harness running into the dash? TIA!
Well, something has to be different, since the A4 has some interior wiring that the M6 does not. Namely the harness that plugs into the stock shifter, which identifies the position of the shifter to the PCM, and takes care of only letting the car start with the shifter in the Park or Neutral position only.
I don't know where this harness comes from/goes to, so I'm probably not being much help.

We've done them here in the shop. We do it a little differently than changing the whole harness, but to answer the question, the main things to change inside the car are:
1) The clutch saftey switch becomes the Park/Neutral safety switch, so those wires are routed from the clutch pedal area up to the console switch. (Yellow and purple wires)
2) The back-up light switch which was on the side of the M6, is now also on the console shifter switch. (green and brown wires)
3) The park/neutral indicator switch so that the PCM can adjust idle speed in and out of gear. This is less important and not crucial. (orange/black and black/white wires)
The other inside change is the TCC lockup wire. If you've gotten this far, you'll figure this part out. I can't give everything away, I'll go out of business!
