Default is this the right bearing that goes ontop of selective washer?

on the video im watching to rebuild the 4l60e, the guy tells you to put this washer on with the black side facing up. in the video his bearing looks a little different than mine, but is black on one side and silver on the other. when i put the black side up and put the drum on, the drum doesnt spin. when i flip the bearing over with the silver side facing up and put the drum on, it turns nice and easily.

all the clutches were engaged soo that isnt the reason the drum wasnt spinning when the black side was up

soo should i just run it with the silver side up? or do i have the wrong bearing

It goes in exactly the way you have it in the first picture though I have seen them run both ways and be fine. That drum your setting on top does not actually ride on that bearing but rather the sun shell. the pump bottom rides against that bearing.

yea after looking at it a while and putting the pump on i then realized its main point of existence is for the pump

thanks for the reassurance though!

I have seen when the bearing is flipped it digs into the input drum. I do not suggest running in this direction.
