Default whats all need for repair? codes thrown!

P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction
P1860 - TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit Electrical

now will i be fine just replacing the torque converter lockup solenoid? Or is there anything else that would need replaced that could be causing these codes.

one like this-

I believe the lockup solenoid has to be spliced into the harness, correct?

help me!

I would replace the lockup and the PWM solenoid and you should be fine these are both electrical failure codes. And yes that type is spliced in .

Do you possiably have a part number on the PWM solenoid? It looks similar to the 3-2 solenoid correct? Where is the general location of it and anything that sets it apart?

sorry for all the questions, i just hate doing stuff twice and would rather go into with more knowledge than needed

thanks!

The PWM solenoid is the one that you will have to remove to r & r the lockup solenoid in your picture . I don't have the P# at the house . Before you start changing parts out , has any other work been done othe transmission recently or did it just start setting these codes out of the clear blue ???

No other work has been done, its a flp level 4 trannsmission, i would say about a year old or so. I have never had an issue with it and it just randomly happened.

sweet i know exactly what solenoid it is then! Now just a part number and im set, hopefully lol

The reason I was asking about other work is that the internal harness can be disturbed and cause a problem like you have . The lockup solenoid and the pwm solenoid are very close to where the filter plugs into the pump and I have seen a case or two where they were damaged trying to remove the filter!!! If the pwm is unpluged it would set that code ! Good luck with it and keep us posted !!!! John

I'm not a big fan of the splice in style solenoids. I prefer to use the oem solenoids even if you splice them in. We do keep them in stock if you would like to give us a call. Ask for Chuck and discuss what is going on. He will help point you in the right direction. Take care. Vince

Added info...Give Chuck a call. I wonder if you are having a converter problem. We do use new solenoids in every unit we build. Not to say that a solenoid can not be bad but I have not seen this happen often.

well i half way have it figured out...first i want to thank chuck at FLT for getting me a wirring diagram and some test to do. I found both solenoids to be good. So i went are rechecked the fuses to see if i missed any from when I checked them before and found the eng cntrl fuse to be bad.

So now i need to figure out if the fuse some how just randomly let go, or if i have a wirring problem.

Also while I was in the fuse box I found the eng sens fuse to be bad. And to think the car went 11.0s with that fuse bad. As i know that it has been bad since i got the car due to the brake light being on and that fuse also has the brake switch in the system.
