Low Gear Set for Street Driven 4L60E
I am good friends with one of the chief transmission builders for TCI. He has done all my transmission work on past cars in his own home garage and given me awsome results for extremely low cost. He suggested that I let him rebuild my stock 4L60E in my '01 WS6 with a stout TCI shift kit and a low gear set (bringing the 1st and 2nd gear ratios much lower for better low end drag racing power, but keeping the same 3rd and OD ratios for retained top end and highway driving). He, of course, is going to adjust the stall speed accordingly to give me good pull all around. I want to know from some others who might be using the low gear set on the street what it's advantages and disadvantages are. Also, is this a better all around choice than going with a different rear gear ratio (my stock is 3:23)?

This is interesting to me , I was unaware of a lower gear set for the 4L60E can you get a link on there website to it by chance. It would be and odd move though most people complain the low gear in the 4l60e is allready a bit lower than preferred but I still would be interested?

My bad man, you were right. I was assuming that a TH350 had the same stock gear ratio as the 4L60E (they are pretty much the same tranny, except one is electronic). The guy from TCI is actually building a Ford C6 for me with a low gear set and I had asked him to do one for the Trans Am. He said that he would, but I think that it was just casual conversation and he hadn't looked into it yet. I will give him a call and find out more details soon. Thanks for catching that.

Btw next time just say you don't think it can be done cause your stupid post doesn't even make sense.
lawn sauges
Now......four years ago I seen a set of 700 gears modified to use in a th350. Someone from Hughes showed them to me.

Ok, I get it, the 700r4 gear set needs to be left alone, but what are some good mods to strengthen this tranny for better performance (besides stall) I know they have some kind of shift kit from the factory, but is it worth the effort to put a new one in, or is it too early in my LS1 modding to worry about it?

You're confusing the TH350 with the 700R4. The 700R4 is the non-electronic 4L60E. The TH350 is a totally different beast altogether when compared to the 4L60E and can be built to take a lot more abuse. It's also only a 3 speed automatic.
