TOTAL cost of gear install with everything included???
Trans Am's and Formula's are the same when you are talking about gear sizes. They both come with either 273's or 323's. I have a 2000 Formula also and it had 323's with Z rated Goodyear GSC's when I bought it. I would call the guy up and ask him to look on the inside of the drivers side door and the factory sticker will tell you the size tire and speed rating that it came with from the factory. If it says 245/50/16 Z rated you have a 323 rear end. Also, have him look at the shifter does it say 1,2,3,D (323's) OR 2,3,D (273's)I changed my gears from 323's to 373's a month ago,added ET streets, and only changed my ET by .2 (13.65/13.49). I added a 3200 stall and ran last night and shaved my ET another .7 (13.49/12.73). In my opinion the stall gives you more bang for your buck, but it takes all those little things to make a big difference!

Umm, the rating of the tire has nothing to do with gear size. I had 2.73 gears in my car with the factory 245/50 z rated tires on the car. The correct thing to look for on the driver's side door is either GU2 or GU5.
GU2 = 2.73
GU5 = 3.23

2. Did you install a "Trans-Go" or other aftermarket transmission valve body, or kit, to compensate for the increased line pressure to the transmission?

Wouldn't a torque converter DECREASE line pressure? You don't need a shift kit. I had a vig 3200 with 2.73 gears and it was fine.
And guess what, I didn't have to change carriers either. I went from a 2.73 to 3.42 using the stock shims. No noise. No carrier change. No hassle. And it costed me $300 installed. I had recently used LS1 Edit to correct the speedo, increase shift firmness, raise rev limiter and all that for $350. So, it costed me $650 altogether.
You can order a gear to fit 2 series carriers from www.mti.com
A shift kit, although desirable by some for the nice crisp shifts, is by no means necessary.
A tranny cooler, although advisable especially for really high stalls (read:4000 and above), is by no means absolutely necessary. Just so long as you can keep your tranny temps below about 210 degrees you're fine (and that's NOT hard to do with an efficient, moderately stalled converter.)
