Default Removing 4L60e With Solid Motor Mounts

Basically what it says in the subject line. Because of the solid mounts it doesn't want to drop down so I can access the top 6 bolts of the bell housing.

It looks like I will gain an extra inch or so if I reach up with an open-end wrench and remove the dipstick. However I still have another 4 bolts to contend with.

Any and all help would be appreciated here.

I have zero experience with solid motor mounts, but I would think that loosening the mounts would give you more room.

Hope this helps...let me know if it does, Im curious.

I think if you remove the intake you can get them from the top with a wrench.I usually pull the radiator too so I can stand in the engine compartment.

I bent a good forged wrench to be able to get to all of them without ever dropping the trans down.

The intake actually just went back on with its new Direct Port goodies. So Id on't think I will go that route.

I just stopped into our local performance shop and they assure me that a swivel or a crows foot will do the job. I am going to try and tackle that this evening so I will let you know what I find.

Nick.. I've ran into something simular with my fully welded Y pipe.. I have to bolt the collectors to get ant movement.

My only thought.. put something under the motor (Muffler jacks front and middle of pan)and "loosen" the mounts.

You can snake a long extension with a swivel coming accross the top of the tranny.. but it is a PITA. I use two long extensions with a swivel socket on the end. Come way back at the transmount area and go across the top.

Getting it out will be fun.. not enough movement to the rear.. getting back in will be even more fun <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> GOOD LUCK!!
