Default Manually shifting an A4??

Is it hard on an a4 to manually down shift the car in deceleration?? Not so much 2-1 shifts but 4-3 and 3-2.

manually upshifting an A4 is fine. manually downshifting an A4 is horrible for it in most circumstances, at least that's what i've come to understand.

i think it depends a lot on the circumstance. if you're driving 45 mph and you just got locked up and it's bothering you, downshifting to 3/D would probably be fairly harmless IMO, assuming you keep your foot on the gas. i guess in short, it's never good for an A4 to downshift, ever actually lol. there are just less harmful and more harmful circumstances.

The only thing you risk damaging on a manul downshift at 0 throttle is wear of the overun clutches.
