All,

I have a 4L85E Transmission and it has been having hard 1-2 shifts . . . seems like it lags a touch (like its thinking about shifting) and then there's a big "bang" when it hits 2nd gear. The other shifts seem fine.

Any suggestions or am I in for a big $2k plus bill on this one?

Sounds like there could be too much clearance in the intermediate clutch pack. It could also be excessive line pressure, but because you mentioned a "lag" that is not likely.

How old is this unit?

What is the fluid condition?

What type of service has it seen?
