Default Too much converter?

I have the opportunity to get a really good deal on a Yank PY3600. I am just trying to figure out if this is too much converter for my application. I want some of your personal experiences. Will there be any disadvantages to running this converter on my car? Or will it run 'not quite as good' as a different converter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1995 LT1 Z28 Daily Driver
Full Bolt On's (Long Tubes, True Duals, EWP, CAI, Pro-Mags, TB, Mallory 685, etc.)
100 Wet Shot
Performabuilt Stage 2
30,000 GVW cooler

The PCM will be tuned for all the upgrades through PCMforless.

Whats the STR on that converter??? I run a SS series 3600 with a 2.5 STR and its nice and tight but still flashes like crazy on the bottle. I think you'll be fine with that one in your setup.

The STR on the PY3600 is 2.30.

you should definitely be in good shape... it should flash very similarly to mine in a 4500# truck and my STR... up the shot and it goes crazy

I was reading that a lower STR is a good idea for the street. Something to do with less initial shock to street tires upon launch. Is this true?

in that aspect, yes... a higher STR will be more efficient though and act "tighter" as its commonly referred to, giving you a little better street manners. Converters used in nitrous applications usually have a little lower stall speed and a touch higher STR than ones used in N/A cars. This keeps the engine in the "sweet spot" for the spray and transfers more power through to the trans. too low of an STR with the bottle and you'll blow right through it.

-but hey, thats just my theory

on the bottle, the tq/hp generated will flash the converter out of its useable RPM range... I do believe you got the right one for what you want.... maybe not PERFECT but it will definitely get the job done. and if you are getting it for a good price then why the hell not

I assume $350 for an originally marked $900 converter is a good deal right?

Good deal on a great converter so long as you know it is in good shape. If the seller had tranny problems, there could be trash in it...

I'll keep my fingers crossed. I just paid for the converter and the guy shipped it out same day. So far so good...

I think you will love that converter. Especially since its a lock up converter.
I have a 4k stall Coan in mine and while its not a daily driver I have no issues driving it on the street.
I was afraid of the stall for a long time and even went with a 2800 TCI when I had my 60E redone but I got the 4k stall with the TH400 when I bought it and have loved it ever since.
