Im a fairly decent fabricator in a strange situation. I bought a highly modified 98 z28 with a destroyed 4l60e. I have a new stage 3 raptor 4L60E to throw in it but the car is still at the shop where my friend took it so I really havent poked around yet. Can someone tell me what pattern this transmission is? Are the 700-r4 and 4l60e compatible when it comes to shift patterns? My goal is to A: Get the car once I receive a rear cover seal that is supposedly leaking. B: replace seal and install new tranny C: Replace stock shifter with an aftermarket shifter and vacuum form or fiberglass a new console to look stock.

I guess all I really need to know is which type of shifter is MECHANICALLY compatible to the 4L60E so I can find the one I want to swap and design the console to fit. Any help greatly appreciated.

All you need is a shifter that accomodates a 4 forward gear gate. It shares the same manual detents as a 700R4.
