Help me pick a trans for my RX7
I am in the middle of building a LS1 RX7 and I cant decide on the right trans. I will be running 1/4. Plan start to in IHRA Real street and move up to Outlaw Street someday. The cars weight will be 2,800 wet with driver. I will be running a single turbo charger and nitrous by the time I get to outlaw. The car will rarely ever see the street if it ever does. I have considered everything from, TH400, Lenco, Glide, 4L's. What do you guys think. Lots of people are running glides in my class. But I feel sense I will be running a turbo the more gears the better. Let me know what you guys reccomend. I am just trying to get the car up and running right how. Pick up a used trans for around $1,000 and go from there. I will be starting the RX7 with a heads cam LS1 and a shot of nitrous. Then as I need to I will build the trans.

well why dont you just buy a trans that will hold up right away instead of building it a little a time while you go on? i would do a th400. what kinda times are you shootin for in the 1/4 though and what are you all going to put into the car?

I will be starting mid to high 9's with a 400rwhp motor and up to a 250shot. The reason I was thinking of building the trans as I go is becuase I dont have the $3,000 plus to drop for a built trans right now. Right now I just need to pick the best trans for my car, engine plans and goals. Most people have told me to go with a glide. But I am not sure if that is the best choice sense I will be going turbo.

TH400 would be my last choice.
With that light a car, I would go glide with that much power. But I'm a bit confused, you say it's a turbo car, then you say you're starting out with heads/cam and small shot of nitrous. What exactly are you running? With just a heads/cam and small shot I would go TH350 with 4000+ stall.

Sorry, I am getting the car going with a 400rwhp motor and up to a 250shot. Then once I get some more cash I plan to do a stroker and add a big single turbo. I do know somebody with a rossler t3 glide with a 5600 stall for a good price.
