Default Installing 4.10's in m6 z28

I think within the next month or so I'm going to install some 4.10 gears in my z. I have a few questions regarding the gears first though...
How are they on gas mileage?
When I shift from gear to gear it should keep me right in my power band where I want to be correct?
And who makes quality gears that aren't noisy as hell? I don't want to get a hypertech to correct the speedo so I'm hoping the SLP speedo calibrator will work in this situation. I was thinking of going to FLP for the install, but am open to any and all suggestions for a gear install in the chicagoland area.

Thanks

Since i have installed the 4.10 I has noticed very little decrease in gas mileage. As for the brand of gear and whine so people will say one gear whines more than another. Most people on this board prefer GM gears or Motive brand gears. In my opinion whether or not your rear whines has more to do with their installment. If they are installed correctly they will not whine. For some other feedback on 4.10 check out this link https://ls1tech.com/threads/showflat...=7&fpart=1

I vote against 4.11s.....not for gas milage but for strength and time in each gear.

I have 3.73s and when I was basically stock they were a real help. Now with the heads/cam/headers/etc (power mods), its getting to the point that each gear is really short (always hit 7000 in 1st.....sometimes even in 2nd.....)...its impossible to catch it. I'm almost at the point of going back to 3.42s.

The rear gears have much less to do with keeping you in your power band. Thats more the spread of the tranny (good as is).

I went with Richmonds. The are really strong but yes they whine. Above 55 they really like to make themselves "heard" . I no longer even really notice it (back seats are even out).

Go ahead and start saving your money now then, cause you will break them within a couple weeks if you plan on dumping the clutch.....might even break them just slamming gears, 4.10s have a small *** pinion

so anyways what is the problem w/ these rear ends? I've done gear swaps in a few 4X4's and never noticed any whine. My winter beater is a 4runner w/ 5.29's talk about a small pinion and I have yet to hear anything coming out of that and I also beat the **** out of it. My fathers jeep has 4.10's and all I can ever remember was hearing the locker. And his pickup has 4.56 gears and zero whine on that. We all did these ourselves. All I can think of is that these companies do all these rears in "production style" just to get them out to the customers. No one ever considered checking there work to see if the rear was set up right? I am eventually going to get a 12bolt for my car and I definetly will check there work. I also know other guys out there that have deep gearing w/ buku horses and no breakage or whine. well maybe I cant hear it cause of the exhaust. but anyways just my two cents Peace...
