Default Will I need a tune with a PT4000?

Hi guys,

I'm having a Yank PT4000 installed. Will I need a tune afterwards?

Thanks.

Sometimes you need to adjust shift points or delete a code. It is not a certainty nor do you need a full tune.

Thanks. The reason I asked is because the car is not idling well at all.

Did you do an idle reset? On a cold motor, pull PCM fuses, let it sit 15 minutes. Restart and allow the car to fully warm -up and relearn the idle. You go between park and gear a few times and that normally does it.

If that doesn't do it, you may need a little more idle air. A 1/2 turn (open) on the idle set screw is normally enough to fix that and not mess up the rest of the tune.

No, I didn't. I just picked it up this AM on the way to work, and it wasn't fun. Stalled a few times in LA traffic.

Thanks much. I'm sure the reset will take care of the problem.

Amen to that. The 4000 replaces a 3400 stall, and the difference is like night and day.
