Default just put in th400, no reverse

i finally started up my car with the turbo 400 and its got park, neutral and all foward gears but no reverse, the guy who built it dyno tested it before i got it so , i dont know whats up. when i put the shifter in reverse the lever on the tranny is physically in reverse but the car doesnt go backwards, any help?btw when i started the converter already had some fluid in it, and i added six more quarts befroe i started the car.

That is probably your problem. Read the directions for the brake. It should tell you the correct procedure for the use of the brake and also the procedure for reverse. The procedure varies between manufacturers.

As Vince said there are several proceedures for backing up that vary but yes thats liley your problem , I know some you have to place the car in neutral and push the button to back up.

oh ok ill try that, the wire comming off the trans brake needs 12v right?, and its grounded internally i guess

When I installed my transbrake switch I ran one wire from the push button switch to the hot wire on the t-brake solenoid. The other wire on the push button switch I ran to a 12 volt power source. (I used the pink wire on the traction control harness). Of course you will have a ground wire coming of the t-brake solenoid, it should be connected to a good chassis ground.

Hook that tranny brake up. Neutral + tranny brake = reverse for my th350, I'm sure it's the same for your th400

Just be sure to hook it up very carefully! You DO NOT want the tranny brake accidently coming on going down the highway at 70mph! I'm so scared of mine accidently engaging that I hooked up both a master ("fail safe") switch, and a secondary momentary switch to activate mine
