Default How would I go about "flushing" my converter?

Is this something I can do myself? What exactly do I need to do? This is a 9-inch Yank PT4000 that came with my Yank TH350.

You can flush the fluid yourself throught he tranny cooler lines. Disconnect the return and put it into a bucket. Start the car for 5-6 seconds and 2-3 quarts of fluid will come out. Replace those with new fluid then do the process again. You will most likely loose new/old fluid in the process, so buy like 16 quarts. Its cheap anyways compared to the 80 bucks they charge to do the same thing at shops.

Well the tranny is getting rebuilt, so that method isn't really applicable. IS there a way to do it out of the car other than just runing it over and draining it? Is there something I can put in there to remove junk?

TO really get one clean, you must either pressure flush it...or replace it. There are lots of little places to hide "stuff" in a converter and if there is much in there, it will wind up in your new clutches. Talk to your tranny shop (if you trust them to build you a trans, you should be able to trust them on this as well). I hate to see a expensive trans get trashed by a contaminated converter (and I hate to see you toss a good converter). you may also contact yank and see if they will flush (or rebuild and clean) it. May be worth a few $$$....good luck.
