RPM or Performabuilt ?
Im posting this for a friend since he needs a new tranny and he asked me who to go with but I had no answer as I dont know much about this. I looked at both RPM and Performabuilt and I noticed that RPM's Stage IV is like 1700 but they need your core. That tranny is also rated at 600rwhp. Performabuilt stage 1 is like 1600 with no core and its rated at 500rwhp.
Now, my friend is planning to go maybe 450 at the wheels and he will not spray. He just a mild street car and not a full blown racer. Just so you guys can get and idea, he plans on doing AFR heads with the Mamo cam and a 12 bolt with 373 gears.
What do you guys think ?? I would like to get some opinions and tell him whats a good option for him.
Thanks

If I were you, I'd compare the RPM Stage IV to the Performabuilt Lvl 2. I'm sure Performabuilt would agree with me. He seems to advertise the Lvl 2 the most. I know that's the one I would get if I ever bought a tranny from him.
Thanks man . When you need anything give me a call . Though make no mistake RPM is a good company, But we are always here to support you,

No but I dont think they are a sponsor as far as I know I could be wrong though? But I was indeed stating we are no matter who you bought it from. And there are many a sunday afernoon and night calls that will attest to that.

+1 for Performabuilt. I have a stage 2 transmission and it has performed to my expectations. Frank with performabuilt is great to get answers quickly and has excellent customer service. I would recommend them to anyone.

I'm happy with my Performabuilt Level 2 so far. I haven't put any real power to it yet though. It shifts rather smooth during normal driving and hits pretty hard when you get on it. The real test will come when it has 450rwhp-600rwhp put to it. I beleive it will hold up. I can't say about RPM as I have never used them. But Performa puts a 1 year warranty on their tranny and stall. Thats damn good considering they know full well what kind of abuse it will be put to.
RPM is not a sponsor here, but I have a 4L60E from Rodney, and it is very nice. If you look through some of the cars in GMHTP magazine.. you'll see many cars with RPM transmissions in them. He is also a great guy to deal with.
