Default Just installed Vig3600....Trans temp really high any ideas??

Yea i just got my vig3600 installed with a polished trans cooler. While running on the freeway the gauge sits at 250 degrees almost off the scale......it varies from time to time but stays in the same 250 degree zone......any one else heard of this??

The trans sensor is not bolted in the trans pan......instead it is mounted in a sensor block roght out of the trans....

the cooler is bolted right on the air damn........it's the polished cooler prt#1307265, capacity is 15,000 gvw,
it's demension is: 11"x4-1/2"x1-1/2

I use the B&M Supercooler rated at 24,000 GVW mounted in front of condenser. Works great, no problems. You may need a bigger cooler.

I also have the B&M supercooler but I have it on the front of my radiator. I agree with highgear you should get a bigger cooler.

i think your guage is reading way to high, mine is mounted into the pan and i have yet to see it go over 170, its normally in the 140-155 range.
i have a BM 24000 and a derale pan running Amzoil Power shift 10w and so far its been great.

That's way tooooo high.

How do you know the gauge is right? What does ATAP report your tranny temp as?

If the guage is accurate, it is not the cooler size. On the highway you are locked-up and should be generating minimal heat. I would guess that there is an obstruction in your cooler or cooler lines blocking the flow.

cooler or cooler line leak is my guess. Check your fluid level!

also, if the cooler is mounted on the air dam, how will air flow through it to properly cool the trans fluid, thats why you mount them to the condensor/radiator to have proper air flow trough the cooler, not just across the cooler.

Problem solved!!!!! it was a bad groound wire in the gauge.....cause this morning i hadnt even strated up the car and the gauge already read 150 degrees..so fidel checked the wires and it was the ground to the gauge. hooked it up and the average temp was 180 to 190 degress.
