Default What size tranny cooler??

I am gunna try to install one Friday or maybe Saturday but I don't know what size. I was thinking somewhere around a 24,000 gvw or maybe bigger. I want to cooler b/c I'm gunna be spraying the car in a week or so therefore I would like the extra insurance. It has a stock torque converter(for now) and some light mods. The car is pretty heavy(even gutted out it weighs about 3700 with me in it). I am also gunna run Et. Streets so I am gunna have to change a couple of things this week.

Maybe I will succeed in my quest for 11's!

Any addition info is MORE than welcome and greatly appreciated!

The 24k is plenty. The B&M 24k is the same LxW as the smaller 18k, I think. But it's twice as thick...3" vs 1.5".

Install is pretty straight forward. Just make sure your connections are tight. EVERYTHING is provided with the B&M coolers. Well, you might need some teflon tape for the threads but that's about it. Basic hand tools needed.

Shouldn't take more than an hour to install. Deciding where to put it took me the longest time. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I think the 19k B&M would be big enough. I have the 16k and even with that my tranny temps never really go much above 200* if at all. I have a 3500 stall, built trans, cam, full exhaust, most all the bolt-ons, and sticky tires. But I keep my fans running all the time once the car warms up which makes a difference....

19K is adequate for drag racing when you have a 160 T-Stat. The lower coolant temps and more frequent running of the fans helps the cooler do its job. 24k is needed for autocross and hot climates.

I have just a 16k but run a dearle tranny pan with extra fluid and cooling tubes.

I ordered a B&M supercooler from TR Friday and it should be later on this evening. I hope to install it Wednesday. I would have it installed today but I have got to work and then tomorrow I am going hunting with my boss and I have to work tomorrow night also. Maybe we'll get to see what happens Wednesday.
