im doin a t56 to 4l60e swap in my lt1 camaro. the car is supercharged and a little over 500whp. first off what type of fly wheel will i need. also i would like to run the trans without any electronics hooked-up. is my only option a manual valve body to do this? thanks for any help.

 

As far as the flexplate... a good sfi rated part will do just fine at that H/P level.

In order to achieve a manual shift.. yes you will nee a dedicated manual only valve body.

thanks. the trans is slightly used but built for 550whp so i was told by a friend. the trans and converter were in a 2002 ls1 car, will this be a direct bolt in conversion? also do you have a recomendation on a manual valve body/shifter, also anything that will make the trans more reliable?

 

The converter pilot will be different. The pilot is the part the interfaces with the engine crankshaft. The converter will need to be modified to accept an LT type pilot. The input shafts are different so that means just swpping converters will not work.

I do not know of anyone who sells the manual valve body outright. The components to convert it are included in a Trans-Go HD-3 reprogramming kit. My recommendation would be to find out if it has a HD-12 kit in it. If so, then it would not be hard at all to convert to manual.

As far as a shifter, I prefer ratchet style shifters. The one I recommend and install is the B&M Pro Ratchtet shifter.

Any reputable converter shop will understand what you are trying to accomplish and can make the necessary changes. My shop does this for me all the time and does not charge much at all. Don't pay more than $75.00.
