Default Going to a 700r4

hey everyone hows it going. i drive a 93 z28 with a 355, eagle/speedpro internals, 10:5 compression, long tube headers, ORY, hooker cat back, zexel, 3.73's. It dynoed 282HP and 310TQ to the wheels with a 6-speed.

The car use to be a auto with a 700r4, but i lost 3rd and 4th so i converted. Now im looking to go back. Found a deal on a 700r4 out of a suburban with 60k on it. Pretty sure all i have to do is put my old tailshaft on it and call it a day? How much power can it handle? I probally wont be making much more power than i am now ..

I want to go with a 3500ish converter. Any recommendations?

Thanks

3500ish would be good, however i would recommend a cam swap to make the most out of it. the stock lt1 cam gives that engine alot of low end grunt, but it's not so good for top end. this would put you around 320-340 rwhp depending on the cam, and would make your car a hell of alot faster than it is now. your engine can handle it. the trans should handle it decently as long as you get a cooler and dont spin it above about 6200ish. heat and high rpm kills these trannys faster than power.

Thanks for the info. Im def going to be doing a cam swap next year and probally a 100shot also. Just trying to figure out what size converter to get while i have the tranny out. Car is a daily driver, but with almost weekly track time. I can stand it not being so much street friendly ... Im planning on taking the shiftkit out of my old 700r4 which is a trans go i beleive. And putting a big cooler in front .

if you do race it frequently, i'd suggest getting it built before it goes in. they really arent made to stand up to punishment frequently.
