Default Harmonic balancer bolt

Whats the easiest and most inexpensive way to keep the motor from turning over when removing and reinstalling the harmonic balancer bolt for us A4 guys.
Ive seen a tool on here that a member made but was just wondering if anyone else knew any tricks. TIA.

That's what I use. Without an impact about the only way to do it is to get to the converter and utilize a prybar to hold the crank. But that is a PITA!

thst best way is the kent moore tool that bolts on in place of the starter,, you can find them on e-bay for cheap that is where i got mine,,

you cant use an impact to tighten the bolt,, the torque is 37 ft pounds then 140* after the balancer is fully seated on the crank,,, you will need a good breaker bar and cheater bar to tighten the bolt that extra 140 degrees

also remember this is a 1 time use bolt, replace it every time it is removed

I use an impact but I used to put a 12" 3/8 extension threw the flywheel and turn it til it gets on the side of the block and stops.

Considering I have done more cam installs than I have fingers and toes I have not had one single problem doing this on an auto car. But most of the time the persons cars I work on ask for a ARP bolt anyway.
