Honestly I am not sure what to tell you on that I would check the unjoints and mounts I cant really hink of anything that would click other than the obvious cluch enagement from inside the transmission

I have heard a bad clicking noise in 2nd, 3rd and 4th before. This happened after a rear end failed and the low roller was hurt. Does it do this in all gears?

You know, come to think of it. I had a good friend who is a builder tell me recently about a 4L60E that had an odd noise in it after it was built and ran. Turns out it was related to the Sungear. Certainly not saying that is the case here. But it makes me wonder.

Can you give us any information as to when it started of at least when you 1st heard it?

Is it constant?

Will it make the noise in Neutral all or just in gear when you accelerat from a stop?

Ordinarilly these units will not amake any noises than can obviously be heard above typical engine noises.

well i only bought it 2 weeks ago so i don't know when the noise started. i was thinking u-joints too but i checked and they seem fine. it clicks at a complete stop when i put it from park to drive or reverse and sometimes it clicks when first taking off in either reverse or drive. just driving there is no clicking.

Sitting still and clicking the only thing that is turning is the pump, flexplate and the converter. I would look at these also make sure it is not a mount that is bad or loose or exhaust that could be rubbing. Just a thought. I hate chasing noises. Vince

Try loosening the trqansmission mount bolts and then retightening them. If something is in a bind you might relieve the stress by doing so.

Also, is this clicking noise happening at a fast rate, a high frequency? Or is it a one time click when going into or out of gear?

its a one time click going into gear...i dont think usually out. its not loud. it really sounds like a worn ujoint noise would make but the d/s seems pretty tight.

I don't think you'll be able to tell by hand if its a bad u-joint.... even if driveshaft feels tight. Have someone shift back and fort while in park, and listen to the sound it makes on the side.

Aluminum drive shafts do that. Mine has done this since day one. A quick tink, tink after putting it in gear is normal I would say.
