Default Converter Problems

When the weather changed my converter started acting up. The converter would take a while before it would lock up when the car was cold, but eventually it would lock. Right after this began to happen I went ahead and swapped the cam and Intake manifold and now the converter still takes awhile to lock up when the car is cold, but now it will unlock when it feels like. This usually happen when I am cruising between 40-60 mph, above 60mph it seems to stay locked up. Yank blamed the problem on the cold weather. So I bypassed my external cooler to help keep heat in the transmission but this has not seemed to help. Is the converter busted? Is it the Cold weather that is making it operate this way or is it the Cam and manifold effecting it ?

It is a Yank ST 3500 and the Cam I put in was a TR 224 114 with a LS-6 Intake.

Has anyone else experienced this problem before if so is there a fix for it?

I'm not an edit expert but, the guy who edited me does a good job and I get no misfire codes.

Butif you're still getting the code then that is for sure, why your TC is unlocking.

I'd make him do it right.

Have you edited out the misfire codes you got from the cam swap?

If not, that's the problem.

The person that did the edit said that they did delete the misfire code but I checked two days ago with Atap and I am still getting the misfire codes. So If i delete this function my converter will stay locked? I am so angry I have been driving around like this for like two month now. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Thanks JC_1.

If the function was deleted properly should I still be getting the codes?

make sure PO300 is deleted and then in the misfire detection temp table have it set for 140*on and 139*off. That will make it stay locked but you can't do anything about the weather. I believe that factor maybe related to the IAT reading. On my car when the IAT is reading above 70 on start up I lock up at 140*, any temp below that and initial lock up is at 166* and then if the IAT reading is in the 30's or below it waits til 188* to lock up.

later,
Steve
