Default To big of a stall

How do you know if your stall for your torque converter is too high? How can a high stall be too much?

A bolt-on (lid, headers, etc) and typical H&C LS1 seem to acheive maximum performance in the 4000 - 4400 stall. Those who have run 4600+ have not consistently achieved any improvement in ET or 60' time compared to the low 4000 range.

I've seen some 3500 stalls post some pretty good numbers too, so 3500 is the bottom of the performance envelope.

Less than 2800 is a waste of money IMO and I'd use a 2800 only on a 2.73 car.

** Numbers used are true stall and not advertised stall. **
