Default no reverse, noise in park/neutral

this is actually a 4t60e. Not my car, i'm just trying to figure out what broke.

It seems there may have been an issue where the throttle was getting stuck open a little, and at one point when parking, the car made a popping noise and now has no reverse.

Also, there is a noise that definitely sounds like its coming from the transmission but its only there in park and neutral, there is also noise when in reverse, but the engine just freewheels. What component is engaged for park/neutral/reverse that would most likely be the cause of this?

Theres a transfer shell in there it can strip and and will cause the noise the problem is internal/mechanical. The transmission will need to be rebuilt to repair.

The old broken stove pipe! Seen it many times. I have seen some hardened versions of that piece as well. Make sure that the 2nd clutch drum and the planet are still ok. The splines that this part connects to wear as well. Vince

If this unit is for a Performance application we can help you take it to another level. I know Vince has an extensive background working with them as well.

Don't hesitate to call if you need a good solution or have any questions.
