ok it seems theres lots of threads lately about the higher stall street converters and im looking to purchase a converter soon so i figured id start a thread containing all of them for the experts to give their opinions.
vig 3600 2.37 STR, ss3600, tci 3500 and the tcs phoenix pro(3500 stall i think?) there are others around this range that can be added to but these are the ones im looking into. the ss3600 is the most expensive of them but its supposed to be efficient easy to drive on the street and very durable. the tci is the cheapest but its also from a relatively new manufacturer, same with the tcs. the vig is a good proven reliable street converter. if anyone knows the rest of the STR's of these converters it would be great. opinions everyone? street driving, who wins at the track who wins from a roll, easiest on the tires etc etc.

Hondakiller,
The cumulative ages of all the other three companys do not add up to TCI's age. You can go to tciauto.com and find out about our 35 year old company.
BTW, the Precision Vig3200 is actually a 3500 stall converter. The Vig 3600 goes around 3900.
Our Super StreetFighter has an STR of 2.5.
Take Care,
Kevin

The real issue is the trade-off you are willing to make in stall speed. Higher stall gives more performance but costs you gas mileage and gives you a loose feeling.
For a pure street converter seeking max performance where traction is limited you want high stall and low str such as a SY 4000. This will make it easy to roll into the throttle and get a good launch and give you a big shift extension for excellent power from a roll. Unfortunately this results in a very loose feeling converter. As you step down in stall speed and/or increase STR, street performance drops but drivability improves and track performance (with good tires) may not be deminished.
That said, I would look at the SS3600 or the TCS 3500. Of course, your gearing and drivability criteria will impact your decision.

soon ill be driving a friends lt1 car with a pye3800 and 3.73's how will that compare to these converters? im thinking it should be roughly the same as the ss3600 but the ss3600 would be a bit looser because of his 3.73's versus my 3.23's. ive also been trying to justify the cost of the ss3600 versus the others. money isnt a problem but saving some bucks is always good. ill be on 255 bfg's for a while if that matters.
The 3200 Vig is the one that should be compared with these converters. According to Yank's website, the Vig 3200 stalls to 3800 and the Vig 3600 stalls to 4300!

LOL! NEW manufacturer??? That's funny.

Driving an LT1 car for comparison isnt really going to help you much since the tq peak on those motors is ALOT lower than an LS1. Like 2400 rpm on a stock motor. It wouldnt hurt to drive it but dont use it as your decision maker.
