Default 4L60 trans rolling forward at start

OK. I'm new here and I've read everything I could in the transmission posts and couldn't find and answer. When I start my car (2000 Firebird 4L60 trans), it's in park but it rolls a few inches forward. I've only had the car 4 months and it has 67K on it. It just barely started and it only seems to do it when it's really cold. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this? The trans fluid is good but that's all I've thought to check.

Thanks
Kyle

To add to that.... this car has always shifted really hard. It's the first automatic I've ever owned but do these cars naturally shift hard when you get on it?

May have a shift kit installed and thats what it sounds like if it gets FIRMER "harder" as you give it greater throttle. And firm progressivly more solid shifts are good in a performance car or really any car

Sweet.... thanks alot for the quick reply! I was told that I had a clutch plate that was sticking by one of the tranny shops here in town and they told me to think about getting it rebuilt. THat sounded weird to me cuz it's an A4. I hate shops that screw you around cuz you don't know what you are talking about.

My car does that occasionally, too. Freaked me out because I was sitting halfway in the car in the garage with the drivers door open and both feet out of the car. Had visions of driving through the garage wall into my master bedroom! I always start it now with my foot near the brake. Only car I ever had that did that, I don't trust my tranny at all any more but she still works good so I'll beat it till I kill it.
