Hitting the rev
i'm not blaming you for anything, i don't think the converter was ever sent to you. the car was @ extreme from july til september. it was a complete built where i knew it was going to make more power that's why i told him to replace the converter but he said there was a trans shop right next to him. i knew it was not looked at because of other issues there.
wrong rev setting in the computer.
hey boosted, you may be right about something. i've been 6.70@ 200 mph so i must know something, but you are right i don't know much about this ls1 stuff. but i do know that you ls1 tech guys are some of the cockiest jerks i've ever met. and i regret even upgrading my street car . some of you tech guys need to relax, you think your the smartest guys on earth and don't know ****. that's like the idiots that build my engine and could not tune it, you pay all this money for this junk and they still think you should not ask them questions concerning stuff your paying from.
Wow.
I can see that you just recently jouined the membership here at Tech. Indeed there are many countless Internet keyboard warriors who have no idea of how to go fast. And they never will because of their attitudes. Ignore the smart *** guys and let's stick to the problem with your car.
The simple fact is you have stated that your engine hits the rev limiter at 1/2 track. This is after you have brought in the 2nd stage of nitrous for a total of a 250 shot. This can be happening because of a converter that was stalled too high and / or you have begun to spray more nitrous than the converter was setup for. And indeed the direct clutches could easily be slipping (3rd gear). But based on earlier comments the converter stall should be addressed.
When are you going to the track again.... I will meet you there and take a look at it if you like. Or of course you could bring it to me at my shop and I would look at it.
I know you worked with the boys next door. But you and I have not worked together. They told me that indeed they had me to change the stall spedd of the converter... I do way too many to remember any given one from even one or two months ago. In addition, in a situation where it comes from another shop I do not get involved with the deatils... I ask about the intended purpose and the estimated vehicle weight vs gear vs horsepower. From there we decide how to change the stall to the requested rpm.
In this case, I was told tonight that you wanted the stall speed raised... when I asked why in the hell the stall would be raised when the horsepower is going up significantly I was told the customer got what he asked for. I do not agree with this line of thinking at all...not one bit. If the converter stall speed was raised when the 408 was built and then a 250 hp shot of N2O is sprayed on it, you are going to blow right through it. Make no mistake about it.
Now, I was told that your converter was indeed freshened up, the stall raised and a balloon plate installed. I will verify that with my converter company in the morning.
If you are interested in cutting through all of the rhetoric and getting to the root cause of your problem then call me. You paid for a converter stall change that went through my company.
It is incorrect and you are due at least one stall adjustment... thats a fact.
Once again, I encourage you to call me so that we can discuss your car in detail.
Either way... Good Luck with it!

And honestly I find it hard to believe that you ever went 6s, yet you can't diagnose a simple problem such as blowing through the converter. If you did, good for you...
boosted i noticed you posted the other day on a post about street racing, i will come to chi-town anytime you choose. you pick your poison, outlaw 10.5, big tire or my street car and i will show you what i do. and if you want to play with me, send me a private message. lets keep the forum about business not your bull. i don't have experience with slipping converter with most of my stuff, i run lenco in my big tire car and with my 10.5 we ran a neil chance pro-mod converter, and that **** don't know how to slip! you also told someone about running that weak looking ford, i'll take my street car and make the trip, just say when.
Those guys are not telling the truth, that's the biggest problem i had with them. first i told them i was from out of town and i wanted a bad azz motor that know one in my town would know about, well they turn around and tell everyone that would listen about my build. second, i told arvil i wanted a motor that would handle 350 to 400 on juice he said no problem. did not happen. when the motor was finished i asked how much gas was on the engine he said 100, i asked why, arvil sayed that a 408 did not need much nos to run fast. i asked if he could raise the nos and he said the motor was build to only handle 200 if lucky, said it would eventually wash the rings. now when i had the car delivered it had a 346 with 2 stages, 100+100 that ran 10.30. you tell me how that a 408 with 100nos would run to much different. third, he called and told me that the car was ready and he told me to make sure i bring cash which i thought was strange. i arrived the next day and he started the car and it would not stay running, he told me that the cam was to big. lol. took the car 420 miles back home, tried to drive the car it was a total mess. hauled the car 420 miles back to him. 1 month passed no call, had a rainy week so i could not work, decided to go see what the deal was. once i got there he was talking about hauling my car to oklahoma for some guy to tune it. i called a tow truck and had it hauled to LG MOTORSPORTS where those guys did a super job. oh yeah if the customer get what they ask for, wheres my nitrous engine. wheres my killer set of heads. i have zo6 heads on my 408. really i could have saved a lot of money and had my 346 rebuild!
While I can understand what you have stated in this thread and I can empathize with you I cannot control what happens in the shop next door. We are 2 seperate and completely different entities.
I cannot and will not speak to your experience with Xtreme Horsepower as I know nothing about what transpired between you and them and it is not my place to do so. Furthermore, I can't see how what happened in the past is relevant to getting you car running right. If there is not an engine performance issue then we need to focus on what is happening now, not what happened in the past.
I will however speak to your experience with the converter.
I have invited you to call me several times in this thread so that I can better understand the situation completely and determine the best course of action. Yet you have not called.
I p.m.'d you last night, yet you did not respond.
I have two recommendations for you.
1st : If you are disgruntled with the work done by Xtreme Horsepower then you need to resolve it with them. It will never happen in this in this transmission technical forum.
2nd : If you are willing to remove the converter, drain it, box it up and send it to me I will restall it at no charge to you. But only after a detailed discussion about your car, it's powerplant, the gear and tire combo and other details that may come up in the conversation.
I am just as interested in making your car reach it's full potential as you are.
817-605-3151 is the number to my shop. Anyone who is familiar with this shop knows I put in 12 hours work days on average. You have to try to miss me when you call.
Good Luck with your car!

Neil Chance makes some killer converters...I'm probably going with one for my Glide setup.
