Default Transmission slippage

When it's close to or at WOT the tach suddenly jumps from about 4600 to the rev limiter and won't shift until I back off the gas. Is the clutch packs shot, or is the whole transmission screwed? If it's screwed, I'll just go aftermarket but if it's something dumb i'll fix it. Car has 104k on the clock.

A little dark and somewhat burnt smelling. Not real bad though.

What would cause the transmission to slip like that anyways?

EDIT: Problem solved. It was a tune issue after the aftermarket gears were installed. It was set for the wrong gears.
