Default Weird third and fourth problem

I'm having a weird problem with my 4l60. I rebuilt my trans back in March with a pro built street-strip kit. Today I was giving it a bit of gas going through a corner at about 10mph and it made a loud pop, and free reved like it was put in neutral. It acts like it is in neutral when stopped or going slow if in third or forth, first and second feel good. Once I get to about 25mph i can shift to third and it will go into third and feel strong no slipping. And at about 35 i can shift to fourth and it work well. With my hptuners I can command third at a stop and it will go into third, same with fourth. Any one know what i broke? Thanks for the help.

Sounds like you broke the low roller clutch, This will allow starting movement only in 1st or second manually , It will also allow you to upshift to the other gears once moving but once you stop again you would have to downshift again manually before it would move again, It is internal

What could have caused it to go out. I put a upgraded one in when I built the tranny, is there anything else I should look at extra carfully when I pull it apart. And is it ok to drive a few miles to the shop or should I tow it. Thanks

Well its coming completely apart anyway, I would just drive and save the tow. As for the part could have just failed, Shift kit may have been set up to agressivly. several [possibilities , You may have better luck figuring out what happened once you have unit apart

I believe the 4L60Es come with a single cage input sprag and most "performance" builders are upgrading to a double-cage sprag along with new inner and outer races.

Actually the top picture is a low roller clutch and the botton of a dual cage input sprag. Two different parts but yes most performance builders use the dual cage input sprag pictured at bottom. The upper picture is of the roller clutch I think it sounds like he has and issue with . Hope your pictures stay all mine are there for just a little bit then go away and become red X dont know why?

That has to do with "where" your photos are "web hosted." If the hosting goes away, the photo also goes away. Therefore, you probably need a new, more reliable web hosting location for your photos.

I know that my transmission is going to make some noise because the low roller clutch is messing up but, on the way to my dads garage, it only made noise when turning right at light throttle. I was driving it very easy because I didn’t want anything else to mess up and it made a metal on metal squealing sound only on right turns. Is there any reason, or anything else I need to look at closely, that would make it make noise while turning and not going straight? I’ve almost got it out of the car. Thanks

I just got it all apart and as far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with the low roller clutch. It will only turn the one way. What else can I look for?

Well should the outer race ramps be one solid flat surface or is there two angles to them?

Can you post pictures of what your looking at and have you looked at the INPUT sprag also. You may want to look at the splines in the planets .
