If thats the case I would have to say its definatly not a trans issue. I mean any things possible, But it would seem unlikey. in safe mode or limp mode the PCM turns everything off. So you have only third gear. Now there are a few possibilities I can think of. If tuning has been used its possible the reporing of a code has been turned off. Do you know if it did this with the stock tune? The PCM could still react to protect itself but may not report a code . If I was doing it and bear in mind I am not a tuner. I would first return the entire tune to stock. Then I would try again and see what happens , If it still does it you indeed should get a code if none have been disabled. If the code turns out to be PO751 or PO757 I would first delete the test for that code and try again. Any other codes I would repair the componet indicated. Then once I solved this issue I would then do regular tuning to the car. IMO remember I am not a tuner. Just seems like a logical progression though I realize time consuming.
