A4/Converter guys.....what do u race in?
all you A4/converter guys....when you race, what do you use? OD, D, 2nd?
for example: if I am going to do a "25 punch", should I manually bring the car into 1st, and shift to D after I go...??
for referance: my first gear is good till 43mph..
the only reason I ask, is that I was told if you drop the car into gear, there is no delay of downshifting, which is where I lose the most ground during a race....
Hope this makes sense, thanks for any advice
Alex
the only problem I have, is when racing an M6 from a roll, I lose too much ground waiting for my car to downshift and go....
I can hold my own once I'm at WOT, but getting to that point is what kills me...

Manually dropping down to 1 should really only be done if your right above 30mph and probably below 35-40mph. Make sure you floor it first though and you will need to the throw the shifter into 2 or 3 right away if you do this. The car will automatically drop to first if you are doing 30mph or below on a 3.23 rear gear so there's no point of doing it manually then.
If your in Texas around Houston and want to find an awesome tranny guy who knows everything check out Mike Kurtz and Century Automotive. He does some special stuff when he installs the TransGo to get it to shift harder than the 3 washer setting would which is really sweet

but someone said above about putting their's in 3rd on the street to help in a roll race. I think thats true, cause the delay in getting the car to kick down and go kills us from a roll against a M6.. all the do is downshift, it it, and they are already gone before our cars get in gear
