Default How do you determine when a built in fan is needed?

I was wondering when it becomes a necessity to run a cooler with a built in fan? Im running the FTRA and some say that it causes problems with cooling of the engine, wouldnt it do the same for the tranny? Doesnt the kit get in the way of the air for both the radiator and cooler depending on where you mount it? I dont want to sacrifice my ram air kit for a cooler, not only that, I dont wanna throw $170 down the drain. I want to be able to run the cooler and the kit, but I was wondering when a built in fan is needed and why? Also, is there any where that I could mount the cooler without removing the ram air kit and still get plenty of air for the cooler to do its job? Thanks

I just looked at the prices on the B&M units with the built in fans, and boy...theyre expensive! Is it really worth the extra $150? Do you really think its necessary for me to spend that extra money running a 3800 with a 2.6 str, 3.42, and a 200-R4? I planned on getting the 28k GVW if I stayed with just the cooler, but then I ran into the possibility of it not fitting because it was so big. So I was considering getting a smaller one with a fan built in. I dont want to sacrifice my ram air kit, so Im trying to find away that I can run the FTRA and the cooler. Thanks

I saw the same thing in the magazine and I liked the idea. Yea it is pricey by just tad but I though of it like this. IS my Tranny worth the extra cooling?. Whats 150 dollors compared to 2,000 dollors for another built one. Seems kind of cheap then wen you look at it from that point of view. Im getting just a tranny cooler right now but when funds become available again I wil be buying it. Its not a bad idea.

I thought of it as being too much but then I looked at my tranny temps 190 in the heat...I'm buying one of the new B&M Teks ASAP.
