Default tranny mount?

i have a question, my cars transmission mount is messed up, the tranny makes a loud noise when it shifts into the first gear. i went into autozone today and was told that they dont sell that mount there for my year, 1999, that i would have to buy it in the dealer, though they did have one for the lt1 year.

wouldnt that one fit on my car?

i just checked out this website and they were selling the tranmission mount and it said for years 93-02

Default trans mount

whatever you do don't waste your time with one of those energy suspension mounts. i put one on and it made my car shake at the top of every gear. im looking for a replacement myself. i figure stock replacement would be best but they're expensive from the dealership. hope someone knows were to get a decent mount.

My car has an Energy Suspension mount on it. The car really doesn't vibrate that much, if all.

I bought a Prothane mount not knowing I already had an ES one on my car. We put it on my buddies SS m6 and he said there's a huge difference over the stock mount.

I believe the car is going to vibrate a little more than usual til the mount settles. After that it's smooth sailing.

The ES Mount SUCKS,
it vibrated and felt worse than when my stocker was cracked.

go to Advances website

Anchor mount #2817

Cost me like ~30 bucks after shipping and is still feeling good after 3 months.
They said they couldn't get it in the store but the website has it

It's rubber like the stock one and bolts in the same way.

Just buy a poly mount. They're slightly stiffer than the stock piece, and only cost about $20 bucks. I purchased mine from Byunspeed.

Sure, there may be a bit of more vibration, but as soon as the mount is broken in, it'll stop shaking nearly as much.

I've been told on this website that the ES mount is made just a little too tall and thats why they vibrate so much. dealerships are ripoffs at $90+ so i think i'm gonna take blazingz28's advice and check out advance online

DO NOT GET POLY TRANS MOUNTS WITHOUT POLY MOTOR MOUNTS TOO!!!!

...

why you ask?? because the poly mounts are stiffer and don't let the trans move as much as stock. this can crack the bell housing after a while. when you get on it, the torque causes the engine to twist, if the trans is held down tight by the poly mounts, you put lots of torsional stress on the bell housing.

So, you referring to this? Gonna order one from Advance? Seems to be the only obvious choice to me

If your motor mounts are done then yes thats true... I did an ES poly tonight and noticed a HUGE improvement over stock. I like the feel of the trans now.

If u go to autozone have them look up the part under a 98 camaro, that is what will pull up this mount in their system. Part number a2817, costs 26.99..........or napa has it cheaper for 20 bucks they will cross refrence! I put a ES mount in my car afer a verter install and it felt like the car wa gunna fall apart. Definetly listen to these guys. If u have stock engine mounts, and a Polyurathane tranny mount, the engine will flex, and the tranny will not. That = bad (broken ****). Plus the extra space from the plate that accopanies the ES tranny mount can cause pinion angle change, which in turn will cause vibration. Just a thought! I just went thru 3 different tranny mounts! oem from chevrolet dealership, and one from napa will do the same! Save youself 70 bucks. If it u break it u can buy 4 more for the same price the dealership one costs!
