Default shift firmness poll and suggestions

IM using a hpp3 and i was wondering the best spot for shift firmness setting. i also have a b&m 1900gvw cooler (if that matters). if your not sure just let me know wheres your set and why you have it there if you have a proven answer then say it too ive seen so much conterversy over this one im not sure what to belive.... as of now its at 100% and i like it (hell if there was 125% id do if if it were safe but hypertech's 100% is of whats allowable so im guessing by allowable they mean whats actually good but ive heard some say any increase in thift firmness is mor ewear on tranny which ive herd that having a non firm shifting tranny means it slips more into gears creating more heat thus more wear the seccond of these two theories seems to be more likely BUT I REALLY DUNNO so a4 gods let it fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my theory is that wear (clutches) happens
when you slip, and breakage happens when you grab.
So obviously you want the ideal setting, where it
wears out just before you break something

I had the HPP3 on my 99 TA for about a year and a half. I used 75% or 100% all the time. It destroyed my trans too! I had to have it rebuilt last year. I can't prove it hurt the trans, but it slipped really bad after 20K miles and I was only running 300rwhp. I would not use the HPP3, just get a trans-go shift kit. JMO

I have the hpp3 installed on my 98 ws6. with the shift firmness set to the max. It is kicking the trannys ***. There must be a better way to get firmer shifts. After 10,000 mi on the hpp3 the trans is starting to slip and viberate. Although the programmer works fine everywhere else. There is a setting on the hpp for an aftermarket shift kit also. dunno how that works?

The programmer is good thing to have. Yes, the increase in line pressure is hard on parts....like u-joints, rear end, trans sprags. This is because of the increase in shift firmness do to the increase in line pressure. This is NOT hard on clutches. The pressure increase WILL reduce slippage which is good for the life of the clutch. Slipping cluthes are the emeny of the trans because heat and wear of the clutch. Think of it this way, your tires will not last as long if you do a John Force burn out all the time then if you do just enough to heat them. Personal, I would prefer a shift kit to progamming, but either one is good for the trans.

I have mine at 100% on my 2002 Z28. I wish it had a 200%, lol. I think the settings have been toned down a bit for 2002s vs. earlier years. I inquired about this on the other board and it seemed the 98-00s could actually get a "neck-snap" shift at 100%. I don't get that on my 2002. My 2 cents.

If your Tourqe managment gone? If not then there is your answer. Pull the computer out ASAP and send it to Speed inc to have the TM removed you'll thank me.

I have the Predator, which I think deletes the Torque management, and the fimness and line pressure are all the way up and I don't have neck-breaking shifts either!!!

JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW REMOVING TM WAS LABLED ONE OF THE 15 BIGGEST MISTAKES And most common mistakes you can make on fbody according to high peformance pontiac which was doing an interview with some top engineers like brian reese from slp. from that article i would not mess with it they said that removing it will net you a tenth or two but will also cause premature falure of tranny (or atleast thats what i got from reading it) anaways thats 2 more for it i guess and some off topic stuff anyone else wanna comment im looking for atleast 20-30 answers before i draw my final conclusion (hell i figure if i get 20-25 people out of 30 for it than hell it must be ok or atleast not that bad)

I would not use over the 50% setting. Electronic line pressure is not the perferred way to increase shift firmness. As noted above the 100% setting can be too high if your came on the high side of the factory settings.
