Default Anyone running a lockup converter in TH400?

I see people pick up about 30 hp with a lockup. Is a converter specially built for lockup or is it something built in the tranny? In other words, is a lockup converter different than a non-lockup, and what is involved in setting up the tranny for it? And just exactly how does it work? Thanks!

The valve body and converter would both have to support lockup. A valve body that supports lockup can go for $1000 to $2000 from Precision Industries.

Total price on a TH400 that I wanted??? $4000.

Gear Vendor overdrive unit... converter... trans brake / lockup valve body and 2.56 first gear.

What is the first gear ratio in the 4L80E? I know it's a 400 with PCM controlled shifts and a lock-up convertor.

I used to run the variable pitch convertor from a 65 Buick in my Stage I Buick with great results and with just the Buick Stage II mods. Ahhhh, the good old days, things were simple back then, or were they?
