Poly engine mount installed on DR side... impressions:
Well, it seems to have done the trick. Additional vibration is minimal.. barely noticeable. I massaged the floor a little bit more while I was at it, but the big difference was the mount. Judging from shifter movement (or lack of it) the engine is quite a bit more stable now.... and best of all...no y-pipe problems.
Install was straightforward, but a little bit of a pain in the ***. Had to remove the alternator and the header for clearance. I jacked the engine up an inch or two to be able to slide the mount out of the bracket.
Good mod for a lowered car with the exhaust tucked up close to the body. Every time the clutch chattered (like EVERY time I take off ) the y-pipe would bang the floor. Hasn't banged once since I did this. I was hoping this would do the trick, because I didn't want a bunch of vibration or a torque strap.
Hows that clutch? Im putting the same thing in this weekend, Think it would be a good Idea?
Hows about overall motor movement in the engine bay?
scotty, is it absolutely necessary to remove the header for this install?
seems like a huge pain the ****.

I put Energy Suspension mounts on both sides of my engine and didn't have to remove the headers. I have dynatechs so I can't say for certain you can do it with all headers but it WAS a tight fit nonetheless...definately have to remove the alternator.
The FLP y-pipe is really easy to get off and I have all the AIR system removed, so taking off the header was only a little bit of extra trouble. The extra room to work with was nice.
If I ever swap the passenger side, I'll probably try it without removing the header since that side is a lot harder to get to the header bolts.

I just had the BMR upper and lower A arms install plus the K member. Will there be additional weight savings with the poly mounts?

not really....were talking grams of difference here.
the gain comes from the removing of engine twist.
The k-member will make it easier to get the motor mounts off.
I wish I had done this when I installed my K-member at Christmas...now I have to go back in and do it
Chris
And the Tubular K member should help it to not turn into a PITA job.
Thanks for the write up!
