help on 95 4l60e
help on 95 4l60e hey guys can someone help me.i have a 4l60e in my 95 t/a and it will not shift into 1st gear of overdrive manaul or leaving it in drive fluid is clean and full.i just installed the motor and went and drove it and it shifted good.and the next day i drove it and not it want go into 1st or o/d someone please help!!!! thanks

Sounds like it is stuck in 3rd... or in a failsafe mode.
Any warning lamps on?
Did you check all of the fuses on the car?
Since the engine was replaced recently, I would highly recommend taking a very long look at the wiring harness. Make sure all of the grounds at the back of the heads are in place.

well the cel is on and i will check all the grounds on the car tomm.and it will go into 2nd gear and shirt hard as hell into 3th but what gets me is it works great for one day and the next day it did not

You gotta fix the obvious things 1st.
Find out why the lamp is on and that just might give you a clue as to why the PCM is commanding max pressure and it is not operating correctly.
Try this right after you get the codes..... disconnect the battery for a few minutes in order to clear the memory. Then run it through the gears to see if it is a hard fault and go from there.

Verdad Gallardo its me again.trans is still doing the same thing.when u put the car in drive it starts out in 2nd gear and it will not shift into o/d.you can turn the car off a time are 2 and restart it and then it will go into 1st and then it will go through all the gears.i did a trans flush installed a 3500 ptc converter check all my grounds and wiring and fluid level. what now!!!
You need to get the code from the PCM and post them up ,Talked to you on the phone

Brand new to this site Hi all im new to this site i mostly post on ls1.com ls1lt1.com..This thread is interesting because i have the exact same problem..i have a 94 firebird lt1..
Freshly rebuilt 4l60e with all the stronger internals and a 3500 stall...but the danm thing wont give me 1st gear and 4th..I think it wants to be in 3rd gear..but i can selct it in 2nd manually because of my shift kit I was told....
This Fail Safe mode sucks *** and i want to drive my car already....Im getting a scan today and hopefully it will shead some light on why its occuring...I will keep you posted as it may help you?
