Is there a protection thing in my A4? Hey guys i was wondering if there was some sort of protection thing in the A4's... Not that i have done it or am going to, but if i were say in manual 2 and was at a high RPM and i were to go to manual 1 then would it go into 1 and go crazy High RPM and blow my engine? or would it stay in 2/go to neutral?

If the trans is stock the PCM would not allow you to do that, However as is the case with the transgo kit then this is overiden and would happen.

Alright thanks, i'll have to ask more from the guy i bought it from, i know he had the trans rebuilt or a new one installed 5k miles ago, i just want to be on the safe side.
1st gear in a stock 3.23 car will go out to like 45mph with 6200 rev limiter. I know that with a stock PCM and trans if you put the selector down into 1st at anything above 30mph it will not go down to 1st gear. If you think yours is modified try to put it down to 1st at like 35. If it does go down it should just bring the RPMs up to like 5K which shouldn't hurt anything. Correct me if I'm wrong but this seems like a safe easy way to test this.
