This weekend I'll be installing a yank ST3500. I've never done a torque converter or trans cooler before (in fact, not all that familiar with auto trannies) so any advice from the older and/or wiser??
Also installing a cam and longtubes, and have a similar thread for each. Please check them out if you can offer any advice/tips for either. Thanks!

Try this link. This was all I needed to install mine.
Read this other thread and be very careful. Make sure you get all three clicks and measure a couple of times...

make sure that when you pull the tranny back to the flex plate and begin to bolt on converter that it does not slip off. the 3 clicks you hear when install are good and all.. i got those when i did mine, but when i was bolting to converter to flex plate it pulled out a little. then 2 miles later i needed a new tranny pump

hey Travis, hope everything goes good for you this weekend. here are a few more bits of info that i got from another thread. Make sure the wiring harness is installed correctly or else it will not reach the rear speed sensor and you will have to drop the tranny back down to run the wires the correct way.add fluid to the converter, leaving out the dipstick and running it through the gears while still in the air.Running it through the gears ensures fluid is pumped/ported throughout the tranny and verter.
Other tips:
1. Make sure you have an 8mm allen for the verter bolts
2. Dont lose the tranny line snap rings
3. If not using a lift make sure car is as high as your stands will allow
4. A 13mm universal socket and BMF extension make the bellhousing bolts VERY easy
5. Remove the passenger side heat shielding (prevents DEEP cuts!!)
hope that helps. let me know when you get done with everything so i can check it out. i will be doing the whole tranny and verter thing in about a week or so.

When you unbolt the converter from the flex plate: Push the converter into the trans and get an idea of how much clearance you have between the flex plate and verter.
When going back in: check this clearance(be shure the verter can be spun as you bolt up the bell housing to eng) then you know your right.

THIS makes the bellhousing bolts even easier!
