yank 3600ss
The stall itself will not damage a stock tranny but the power increase because your shifts and launches will be more in the power band could damage the tranny. I think that with small bolts ons and a good cooler and a guage to keep an eye on your temps you will be fine with the stock tranny. If you put in a cam and start making killer power then the tranny probably will not last that long. LS1's make more and more power the higher you rev them usually so you would be fine with a 4000 or a 4400 stall on a stock tranny I am sure but usually with those big stall converters they are very loose and can affect your driveability so just watch that. Like I said I love my SS3600 so far and its on a stock tranny.
You don't have a long wait maybe 2 weeks. I ordered my SS3600 from them on February 21st and recieved it last Friday March 7. They say about 5 days to make the converter once they get your order and then another 5 to 7 to ship it depending on your location.
From my communication they seem like great guys. and like their saying goes
"Yank it and get off quicker"

Took mine about 1 1/2 weeks to get to me. I have heard that they don't build the converter until they get the order, thats why it takes a little longer to get than some places. Its worth waiting just a bit longer to get a quality product if you ask me. I am still loving my SS3600. Thanks Yank!!
Also mine locks up at 38 mph just like stock and I don't have a single problem with chatter. Its nice and smooth when it locks up.

I installed my ss3600 about 1.5 years ago, Almost 29,000 miles on it with the stock tranny, and for probibly 25,000 of those miles, was on a stock tune. Just three weeks ago, I finally did my cam install, the tranny hated that, so I allready had a perform built tranny sittin in my shop, so just this weekend I swapped them out.
But what I am trying to say, is the stock tranny will hold up fine, Mine lasted through alot of abuse, but since I put my cam in, and added another 60+ hp, hopefully.. lol. It finally started to slip some, and go into limp mode, when I got on her. My old tranny at the time had 111,000 miles on her.

From what I have read the PT series is just a more efficient converter especially on the top end. Most converters allow great 60' times but the higher rpm's you go above the stall speed the less efficient they are. The PT series is not this way. If I am incorrect someone correct me but I believe that is what I have read about this debate. The problem with the PT series if you are ever planning on running nitrous is they have a tendency to blow through with a power adder. So like a 125 shot of nitrous on a PT series converter would be more like a 75 shot because you will blow through the converter some.
