Default Tranny just went, is FLP still the way to go?

I have not been on the board for about 6 months...is FLP still the one to get or are there better options now?

Also, will it be ok to drive the car 3 hours to the shop limping along at 60MPH in 3rd gear at 3000RPMs rather than getting it towed? (Towing will cost $500 so I would like to try to drive it to the shop if I won't do any damage to the engine or anything else).

Yeah you can do that, if you have Autotap you can 'tap the tranny temps to see if it's getting too hot.

I ran my FLP level IV with great success for a couple of years, I would just not hotlap the car, and I ran a 19,000 gvw trans cooler.

I have yet to hear of many problems with the FLP units... I would go with them.

As far as limping it in third...

I limped mine in second for 70 miles.

4500RPM @ 60

Burned a couple plug wires, but engine temps appeared to be fine.

There is a guy down here that will redo yours for $550.00. He has a few in the 10's with NO problems.

My half *** performance tranny lasted me 6 months. This was a $600 rebuild kit as well. After that crapped the bed I got a Speed Inc tranny. Mine is a S2 I don't think they has the S3 then, but I am satisfied as hell with Tom and tranny. I will be very honest. I had problems with my first tranny from them. It was bad right out of the box. I had to get a new one shipped to me. Guess what? I called Tom and he said no problem. He sent me out a new tranny right away at HIS EXPENSE!! Then I spoke with him about the tranny and HE PAID for the labor to have a new one put in. Are you kidding? NOBODY BUT NOBODY would ever do that for their products or customers. I know of shops that have sent out bad trannies and STUCK THE CUSTOMER WITH BOTH BILLS, shipping and labor!! It hardly seems fair that Comp A sends out a bad tranny and WE get stuck fliiping the bill. Tom has my business for life. The new tranny is perfect and has been for 7 months. It also seems to break in a little over time and shifts smoother now then when new. I would 1000% recomend the tranny to anyone. My car has 3900# raceweight and runs 12.000. I have a new TCS4400 2.7 STR being installed as we speak. I am hoping to punish this tranny and see what it can hold.
