Default c5 torque tube shortening

I have searched already,,,,,Can anyone help with shortening a C5 torque tube?

What type of aluminum is it? What welding rod should be used?
Any details that would help are appreciated..

any links or contacts (other than what you get when you search) that could help me out!...

I am shortening the tube to allow for my 4L80e to fit ..

Thanks for the help

Tom

yes - cut on a lathe- I think the driveshaft was 37 1/8 long but that's for a th400, make sure you index the ends with the lathe before you cut so the holes lineup the same
