No, it is a lock up for a LS1 4L60E. To make a lock up for a Turbo 400 you need a special transmission called switch pitch or variable pitch and a totally custom converter. I have thought about making one of these, not a lot of cores though.

Nice shiny stuff, there. Does that replace or eliminate the need for multi disc convertor for WOT TC lock up? Or is it a new TC not trans inner parts? Excuse my bad auto trans knowledge.

Those are custom built parts that are on the inside of the torque converter. It is called a multi disk, this one has 3 clutches. It essentially gives your more clutch surface area to hold the extra power for a WOT lock up. The clutches you see pictured are located in the converter, but are applied from fluid pressure that comes from the transmission. That pressure is commanded from the solenoid in the transmission that is commanded by the computer on the car. So your tuner has total control of when the lock up will occur. It is not recommended to apply the single disk clutches at WOT because they can not hold the power and will slip, eventually burning up and causing transmission failure. Hope this clarifies a little, anything else just ask.

Chris, ask ken over at T/S about the lock up 400 they made back in the mid to late ninety's. It required the SP pump, and their input shaft to make the converter work. It's a cool looking part. I like your new Multi-disc cover as well as the single disc by the way. Nice work!!

Sorry in advance for the hijack.

I am actually buying that tranny and PT4000 converter off of him. I just sold my t56 to get it.

Can you guys still service and/or re-stall that converter? What is the STR of that converter? How much HP will it handle locked up?

That's pretty cool. I assume that was a single disc? I like the generous use of braided line. All good stuff.

Mike.

My Circle D install is almost finished. It's a nice piece. Just a few odds-n-ends to wrap up. Will be posting up in a few days how it's working...

I can't wait for mine to come in, its the multi-disk. Im excited about it because you can read and search about circle d converters and not one bad thing about them at all and Chris is so knowledgeable and will take the time to explain anything to you. Very happy and haven't even got the converter yet!!!!!! Thanks Shaun
