Default 4l60e problems

95' Z28 4l60e

my transmission is acting funny

It's fine when i drive it with some sense, but when i get on it it will go out of gear at about 5-6 grand ??????????????????? one person told in hopes of a simple fix it might just be the fluid and filter needing to be changed the fluid looks fine just from looking at the dipstick. Deep down i know this thing is f'd up, i hope not but... anyway, anyone with any advice or knowledge.
i can get like some sort of rebuild kit for like a hundred and something(contains seals and what not, no clutches or anything like that)

someone plz help

Does it do that in all of the gears? If so, then you might want to take the fluid level above the full mark a bit... usually 1/2 quart makes a difference.

If it does not, which gears does it do this in?

And... what were your plans for after purchasing the rebuild kit?

First I would drop the pan and change the filter and also make sure its full of fluid when your done the dropping out of gear on these can happen with the fluid only a little low. Then when I saw what was in the pan I would go from there.
As for rebuilding one of these unless you are well versed in them , Most people I have seen try it have ended up with and assortment of problems and either ended up spending far more in time and money to fix it or ended up just buying one afterall and losing the money they spent trying to build the first one, So again unless you are very well versed in these or know someone that is I would think it over carefully.

Trouble is likley from the being low on fluid you damaged the clutches, I have said before with the 60e there is no such thing as a little low.You will likley now have to rebuild or replace the trans Sorry but that sounds like where you are headed
