Default Transbrake problems...help!

I keep blowing fuses when I apply my transbrake. I even rewired it and changed the source of power, still blowing fuses. Has anyone had this problem before? Do I need a new transbrake solenoid?

Thanks

I would contact the manufacturer of the transbrake and ask what the OHM load of the solenoid should be and then measure it, Typically I would say 22-26 ohms.

Since you rewired it I would suspect the solenoid itself to be bad or maybe even a faulty switch. Most brakes IIRC will work on as little as a 3 amp fuse. Make sure that your ground is directly to the chassis of the vehicle if using an external solenoid. Is this an internal brake solenoid or is the solenoid external? If it is internal make sure that the solenoid wires are not cracked inside the transmission and touching metal. This would pop a fuse in a heart beat. Vince

I measured the ohm load and it was around 82-80. Seems high. The solenoid is external. But now that you mention the ground I did notice that on the solenoid itself, the ground seemed kinda loose. Would this cause the fuse to pop? (These are 20 amp fuses that I'm blowing). I'll contact the manufacturer tomorrow and see what he has to say about it. Thanks for the responses!

If your blowing 20amp fuses that is pretty serious. Try to use a different switch and see if it makes a difference. If not you will need a new brake solenoid. I would recommend getting a pro tree solenoid. The fastest and most reliable on the market. Vince

80 ohms will not blow a 20 amp fuse, Check your wiring and switch connections
