Tourque the stall converter?

Default Tourque the stall converter?

I was putting my stall in and it said to tourque the bolts to 44ft/lbs (the 3 on the stall) is this really necessary if you put locktite on them? Just don't have a tourque wrench.

Well you could just buy a cheap one at like auto zone but most people just use locktite and tighten them as much as the can by hand

A lot of parts stores have loaner tool. That is what I did from the local o'reilly. It cost like 180 dollars but I got all of it back when I returned the tool.

Yup...did the same when I did my heads/cam install.

I just had to replace a Yank SS3600 because locktite was not used. Two bolts backed out of the converter feet and one foot broke completely off. Use locktite and torque it to spec and then some. Also, ensure you sand the flexplate facings where the bolt seats ... take it down to metal. This would have saved me $2,800 ... less than a year after my FLT Level 5 tranny install was done by a local performance shop.

At least now I have the TC SFI flexplate and the ProThruster 4000 drag converter, which I had been wanting.

Well, I don't like to sling mud John, but, they did install the transmisison when they shipped it off to FLT for a fresh-up. It came back and they installed it and less than a year later, two of the 3 torque converter bolts had backed out, which caused a broken foot on the converter.

I told Geoff I wasn't asking for any financial reparations, however, he did not offer any, as well ... which I felt he should have. I've had nothing but problems with nearly everything that was done there. About the only thing I can't bitch about is they built me one helluva great motor.

We'll talk offline about the recurring issues I have had with NLP. I don't want to air 'dirty laundry' here, but, I can give you a multitude of events where blatant mistakes were made over the past three years of spending about $40,000 at NLP.

I Can Relate, They Didn't Od To Well On My Tranny Swap... They Rebuilt My Rear And So Far All Is Good But The Dam Hing Probally Has Only 2000 Miles On It..

Overall I Just Wasnt Impressed..
