? about 12 o'clock bolt on bell housing
So, I'm pulling at my 4L60E and notice that there is no 12 o'clock bolt. The dog ear that should be at the top of the bell housing looks like it either was ground off or maybe broken off. My car has a 6.0L motor in it. Do these motors not have a bolt hole at that position? or did someone maybe "revise" the transmission so they wouldn't have to bother with that bolt anymore? I don't have the transmission out all the way yet. Have some crossover piping in my way right now from the turbo. Just wondering if the bolt patters are different for this motor.

That's what I am assuming. The weirder thing is I can't seem to see a bolt hole in the block for it. Once I actually get the transmission out I'll be able to take a closer look. I'll snap some pics too.

it is very common for people to grind that ear off. for a couple reasons.
1. so the damn thing wont be in the way during reinstallation
2. so they wont have to worry about that bolt ever being put in (or removed) again.
